Fingerween 2010! Calling all entries!

Check this out from last year: Fingerween 2009

I would LOVE to see you all from the blog/www world take part!
A few suggestions: markers and sticky notes work well! Sticky notes are good 'cause you can cut stuff out and just stick it to your finger. That's mainly what we used last yr.

BUT, use whatever you'd like :D be creative :}

Can't wait to see the entries!

Push It

Introducing...

DAWNETTE!!!

(note: it may take ages to load bc I uploaded a large version... but... some would say it's worth it :})
(note: this was the rough cut. I was re-editing / fixing timing / adding
new things when I lost my usage of final cut, so it went on... indefinite hold)

Enjoy!

They shall have hammocks!

This was before I lost Pez... in fact, it was for him. I wanted to make a hammock that I could hang low so he could get in it easily, as he was having hind leg paralysis.

So, I cut up an old shirt and some bits of jean, added a little stuffing, and created another hammock for their house.

Here's how it went:

And there it is, hanging in the house.

Pigeon sleepy mode

A few shots that Brent took of Pigeon the other day with his iphone. More to come from Brent. It's a Pigeon-week, can you tell? So... you can see he's a bit dirty. There have been debates to the stains, but he really does clean himself a lot. Those stains are just well stained. His tail is going to get a bath too. He's cleaner than Pez was, since Pez was getting old, so now that he's by himself, he should stay a bit cleaner too.

YAY! Thanks Brent.

Pez. 10.9.10... RIP

Saturday morning, my sweet baby bug Pez passed away. One of two of my rattie boys, he lived to be about 2 and a half years old. He was struggling with many health problems, the main, and consistently worsening one was his respiratory problems. He is now gone... and I miss him. I broke down a few times this weekend, and felt so horrible other times. It's not the same without him, and I feel for Pigeon, my other boy, who now I keep with me and around me when I can. We'll keep each other company.

I was going to get him some new roommates, as rats are social, but he's sick right now too, so he can't be around other rats.

Anyway... tribute to come. Photos, etc.

I miss you, Pez.

Who's in to partake of the giving goodness?

So... I constantly have ideas, and my latest one that I really want to do is this:

What it is:
I'm going to develope an online "gallery / shop" so to speak (probably a blog format), that has different "shows" with themes.

How it works:
Artists / crafters / etc will donate/submit/enter pieces into the specific shows they choose, following the criteria. The pieces go up on "opening night" and stay for the duration of the showing. These pieces are up for sale, set at the price the participant chooses. If they sell, the piece is shipped to a common address, where we will ship it out to the purchaser.

Here's the catch:
Each show will have a charity associated with it. Most likely small, local ones that can definitely use the extra bit of funding. The money made from that show will go to the charity.

What's in it for the participants?
First, you get to help people, animals, causes.

Secondly, you get your name out. For all you bloggers and etsyers, that can be big. You will get linked to the page (website or email) for the duration of the show. Also, I'm thinking we'll put out cute, themed brochures or posters and graphics promoting each show, just like a real one, and you can end up in that stuff. Maybe have a biographies and some interviews too. Probably an email list.

People can also donate money to help cover shipping costs for the shipping to the purchaser.

ANYWAY, what do you think? Would you guys be down to participate? I think it's a sweet, cute way to network with other like-minded individuals as well as do some good.

Would you guys help me spread this to make it a success? Just want your feedback and thoughts for now, but I'll be building this out soon!!!

THANKS! and please, please really consider about joining in,
and let your friends and fellow blog-peeps know what's up.
Let's make this make a difference!

Kicking off Fall with a day at the farm!

The company I work with has a South Georgia office... and it's on a FARM!

Every year, we have a day down at the farm to grow as a team and family, learn, and do some good.

Last year, we went during the summer. Swimming in the lake and trying to water ski was fun and all, but boy was it HOT! This year was perfect. Just on the brink of Fall, it was warm, but beautiful outside.

We planted trees, ate some good barbecue, learned about the process of making grits and corn meal, tried some of those grits, ran through a complicated corn maze with activities buried throughout that you had to do with your team, had squshup hour (oh yes, the pres enforced this and made the WHOLE company do it!), carved pumpkins, did a relay race, and made scarecrows!

Here are some snapshots to show you the what it was like!

They have BEAUTIFUL horses!

They grow peanuts, cotton, and... stuff!

Teresa actually plucked one and ate it!

They SURE do!

The crazy corn maze.

We had to wear silly sunglasses!

And blow bubbles! That stuff was fine.
It was having to carry this crazy water-filled jerry can with us that was difficult!

This guy was making some CRAZY bubbles as we were getting ready to leave.
He said the world record for largest bubble was made with that exact thing.
He also said if it wasn't windy, the bubbles could get way bigger. Dang.

We carved pumpkins. But we didn't have enough time!
My team was just getting started, so we had to hurry and finish.
But we were going to make the coolest fish monster ever carved into a pumpkin!

Here was my team's scarecrow.
So maybe I've been watching too much Dexter,
'cause our scarecrow is a pervert. Notice the facial expression and 'stache.
Then notice in what he has in his hands. Yeeeah.

Lastly, Meg found herself a lover. Sorry Chad.
She kissed this grasshopper.

But I mean, he IS pretty cute, so I get totally get it.

What fun fall activities have you been doing?

-------
Last random thought: It's October, so it's Halloween month.
Expect some Halloween funness, and then... FINGERWEEN!
Which will now be hosted here.

I was given an AMAZING suggestion by Dori to open this up to the blogworld!
So... later on this month I'll post what to do if you want to be part of Fingerween 2011!
Yay!
